    Rescue Union School District

    The Governing Board of the Rescue Union School District aspires to provide positive learning and working environments free from discrimination, harassment, and intimidation and bullying for all students, parents, job applicants, employees and community members.

    The District prohibits discrimination, harassment and intimidation and bullying based on an individual’s actual or perceived:

    • Race, ethnicity, national origin, ancestry or color
    • Gender including gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and pregnancy-related medical conditions
    • Sexual orientation
    • Religion
    • Age (40 and above)
    • Physical or mental status or ability
    • Medical condition or genetic information
    • Marital, parental, family or registered partner status
    • Veteran status
    • Political belief or affiliation (not union related)
    • Association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics

    In addition, the District aims to provide certain rights to its pupils and the public relevant to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. You have the right to:

    • Fair and equitable treatment regardless of your sex
    • Equitable opportunity to participate in all academic extracurricular activities, including athletics
    • Receive equitable treatment and benefits in the provision of all of the following:
      • Equipment and supplies
      • Scheduling of games and practices
      • Transportation and daily allowances
      • Access to tutoring
      • Coaching
      • Locker rooms
      • Practice and competitive facilities
      • Publicity
    • Access a gender equity coordinator to answer questions regarding gender equity laws
    • File a confidential discrimination complaint with the United States Office of Civil Rights or the State Department of Education if you believe you have been discriminated against or if you believe you have received unequal treatment on the basis of your sex.
    • Pursue civil remedies if you have been discriminated against.
    • Protection against retaliation if you file a discrimination complaint
